Each candidate supposed to undertake independent research at the beginning of their 2nd semester of the programme. They have to select a research theme in consultation with research coordinator (Dr. Asela K. Kulatunga). Once preliminary requirements (Initial version of the proposal) are fulfilled, they will be assigned to a potential supervisor to develop detail proposal. By the end of 2nd semester they should start field work and data analysis. After completing their 3rd semester within 4 months’ time they are expected to submit first draft of the thesis to the supervisor. If this could not be met, you are required to inform research coordinator through respective supervisor. Otherwise you will have to face additional penalties.
